Design Options with Concrete
Here are four beautiful examples of decorative concrete pool decks. Read the descriptions to get an idea of how these pool decks were designed and what special features they each have.
- Mediterranean-Style Pool Deck
This three-tiered pool features concrete pool decks colored with Scofield’s Arizona Tan dry-shake color hardener. It also has a rock-salt finish which enhances its natural look and improves slip-resistance. The pool design was inspired by the Alhambra, a 13th century Moorish palace in Spain.
- Stamped Concrete Pool Deck
Located in Los Gatos, CA, this backyard pool deck is divided with a 3’ deep jointed diamond grid pattern. It is colored with Sandstone Color Hardener and Weather Sage release agent. The slate pattern was stamped using Italian Slate stamps with Random Connecticut bluestone Bands.
- Flagstone Patterned Concrete Deck
This project features a hand-cut flagstone pattern. Each ‘stone’ was stained by hand with a water-based stain. Color hardeners were used to produce highlights and then the bands were stained to add depth.
- Concrete Overlay Pool Deck
This pool deck was originally just a boring, gray color. Using a micro-topping polymer overlay, the pool deck was resurfaced with the appearance of colored concrete.
